Day 73: The Northern Cascades and Crossing into Canada
Through the North Cascades National Park and into Osoyoos, BC, Canada makes this an international road trip!
Day 71-72: Riding the Waves on the Bike, and a Shrimp Burger
Bought some art in Port Townsend. Took the ferry to Coupeville. Over Deception Pass to the Shrimp Shack, and on to Anacortes, WA.
Day 70: Watching Some Whales (and some seals and sea lions)
Port Townsend is an adorable town. I had an amazing time on a whale watch (Orcas!) and a great dinner.
Day 69: Can’t Get Anymore Northwest
A day trip west to Cape Flattery—the Northwesternmost Point in the contiguous United States. And…a quick trip up to hurricane ridge in the Olympic National Park. Such a beautiful part of the country
Day 68: Olympic Peninsula and Port Angeles
Through the rainforests of the Olympic peninsula, Lake Crescent and to Port Angeles, WA.
Day 67: Madras, OR through Mt Hood National Forest and Mt St Helens to Olympia, WA
A super-cold morning ride hrough the Mt Hood National Forest and up to see Mt St Helens. Remembering the massive explosion and devastation that happened in 1980.
Day 65-66: Riding to Redmond - The BMW Annual Rally
A great time at the rally in Redmond. Met some folks. Bought some stuff.
Day 64: Riding to (just about) Redmond
Riding through the scenic high desert of Oregon on my way to the BMW Rally in Redmond, OR
Day 63: Along the Columbia River Gorge
Along the Columbia River Gorge on the Washington side, then over the Oregon side to Pendleton, OR.
Day 61-62: No Disappointment at all
Over the Astoria bridge to Cape Disappointment and along the Columbia River to Vancouver, VA to get the 12,000 mile service on my bike.
Day 60: Goonies Never Die!
Coffee and biscones in Rockaway Beach. Cannon Beach and Haystack Rock. the Astoria Column, a good pizza at the brewery, and a good night at a comforatble B&B.
Day 59: Tide Pooling, Scenic Overlooks, a Good Lunch and Sea Lions
Not a lot of miles, but a whole lot of cool stops. Tide pooling, scenic overlooks, and sea lions on my way to Tillamook.
Day 57-58: The Very Serious Southern Oregon Coast
The rugged southern Oregon coast. A great meal at Matties Pancake House and back north to the beautiful town of Florence.
Day 56: A Short Ride to a Nice Town—Bandon, OR
A short ride, and some great food in Bandon, OR. If you've never been there, you should go. It's a cool little place on the southern coast.
Day 55: From the Mountains, to the Forests, to the Ocean
Climbing up from Ashland, OR to Klamath Falls and up to Crater Lake National Park, where there was still about 7 ft of snow. Then over to the Oregon coast and some schnitzel.
Day 54: Caves and Summits
A day of caves and summits. Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve, a wild road through the Klamath National Forest fire damage, Happy Camp, CA and an epic, scenic ride along the river.
Days 52-53: Saturday…in the (Redwood) Park
Klamath, CA through the Redwood National Park, and crossing into Oregon to Grants Pass, OR
Day 51: Riding to the Redwoods
Scott had to turn back due to a coolant leak. I kept going north to the Redwoods National Park. The visitors center was closed and it was getting late, so I’ll visit the park in the morning.
Day 50: Riding the Coast Does Not Get Old
Riding along the northern California coast does not get old. Today was a pretty straight run up the PCH to Fort Bragg, CA.
Day 49: I Walked Among the Redwoods at Muir Woods
Mill Valley, CA to Muir Woods, and along the PCH to Jenner, CA. Then, along the Russian River Valley to Windsor, CA. And, a really nice dinner.
